Trash & Transfer Pumps
Water pumps are designed to pump clean water. However, debris and other solid materials can enter, clogging and even causing damage to your pump. To solve the problem, you can use a trash pump. Meanwhile, transfer pump, as the name suggests, is for shifting water from one location to another.
How do you know which one you need? If you do not mind the absence of any back-pressure on the pump, you may choose a transfer pump. It typically comes with a cast iron impellor with flow rates higher than high-pressure pumps. Many farms and other tasks in domestic and agriculture commonly use transfer pumps.
On the other hand, you need a trash pump is you require shifting significant volumes of water. Like transfer pumps, the other type does not have back-pressure. The main difference between the two is that trash pumps can easily handle the particulate matter.
Therefore, if you are dealing with solids, you can go for a 3" pump, such as the Monza 3" with 6.5-horsepower. It can tolerate debris that measures up to 25mm.
