The German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS), known as Seenotretter, is entrusted with the vital task of maritime search and rescue services in the North Sea and Baltic Sea areas. Operating around the clock in all weather conditions, their mission is encapsulated in the motto "Heading out when others seek shelter." Established over 158 years ago, this society relies on voluntary donations rather than public funds to maintain its independence and unwavering commitment to saving lives at sea. The rescue operations are predominantly carried out by volunteer sea rescuers. In tribute to these dedicated professionals, Boker has developed the Boker Plus Seenotretter 01 knife model. Tailored to meet the high demands of maritime search and rescue, this no-nonsense tackle knife is designed for both professional and private users navigating maritime and inland waters, as well as those frequently working with ropes. Constructed entirely from stainless steel, the main blade, made of 1.4116 steel, features a half wave for cutting encrusted ropes and harnesses. The marlin spike, designed for untying hardened knots, also incorporates shackle and bottle openers. Both blades are secured by a robust and dirt-resistant slipjoint, with solid domehead studs ensuring durability and reliability. The front scale bears the embossed Hanseatic cross, the renowned emblem of the DGzRS. Facilitating ease of carry, the knife includes a deep-carry clip (tip-up/r) and a generously sized cord eyelet for added security against loss. For each knife sold, Boker donates 5 Euros to the SAR organisation German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS).
