Toshiba

Shibaura Seisakusho (Shibaura Engineering Works) and Tokyo Denki (Tokyo Electric) merged to form Toshiba in 1939. Tanaka Seisakusho, Japan's first producer of telegraph equipment, was founded by Tanaka Hisashige in July 1875 as Tanaka Seisakusho. Shibaura Seisakusho was renamed in 1904.

Toshiba makes a wide range of consumer and corporate electronics. The company also manufactures DVD players, digital video recorders (DVRs), printers, copiers, lighting goods, medical imaging equipment, security systems, and liquid crystal display (LCD) devices, in addition to HD televisions and laptop computers.
